2018 AFSOC 03 HOTAS Radio Control
A particular SOF aircraft has 11 radios. During missions, operators have to switch frequently between radios to transmit on the correct net. Each radio change requires the operator to take his gaze off mission systems displays and equipment to look down at an audio control panel, and choose among a large number of manual buttons to select the correct button for the radio channel. The present system places high demands on the equipment operator. An effective solution is sought that will allow operators to select and communicate on the proper nets with speed, flexibility, accuracy, reliability, and low operator workload.
