2018 AFSOC 02 Tilt Rotor Ops in Degraded Visual Environment
Decreased visibility during approaches to landing (and hovering) presents risks to CV-22 crews and aircraft. CV-22 flight display systems provide basic symbology and data to pilots conducting approaches, but the lack of good pilot visual cues in decreased visibility situations remains an operational issue. Solutions are sought which explore the current state of the art in display hardware and software for reduced visibility operations, as well as the development of appropriate displays, cues, and other indications which can allow pilots to fly aircraft safely in these flight conditions.
