2019 USD(R&E) 01 Quantum Computing – Algorithm Development for Military Optimization Problems
The government is interested in assessing and developing quantum computing algorithms that efficiently solve complex sorting and optimization problems confronting the US military. Examples would be time-phased deployment of forces to a military theater of operations, the evacuation of non-combatants from a large, foreign metropolis prior to the commencement of hostilities or the evacuation of US civilians from a large foreign metropolis during times of heightened threat conditions. The project would utilize small, unclassified, manageable data sets to show the viability of quantum computing to solve these types of military problems.
