US Special Operations Forces often need to access objects at elevated heights. Currently, the operators use a carbon fiber telescoping long pole. The current version is heavier than desirable and can fail. The overall objective of the research is to design and fabricate a lightweight long pole out of government provided open-architecture composite structure (O-ACS) material, which has been selected as optimum in a previous capstone project. This research topic is a continuation of research conducted 2018-2019 to build a prototype pole.
