2019 AFRL 03 Rapidly Deployable Mass Rescue Device for Marine Environments
The USCG has a desire to have a manually deployable, lightweight (50-100 lbs), and large capacity (100-200 persons) device that isolates people from a marine environment and prevents hypothermia for approximately 24 hours. It is expected that this research topic will achieve as a starting point for development of a deployable prototype, a weight-to-person ratio significantly better than that which exists currently (3.5) with a goal ratio of 2.4.
